The bursary is not an employment contract, nor is it purely an extension of any previous academic or apprenticeship training, but an opportunity to gain additional knowledge and develop practical skills, building on theory or experience working in the construction sector.
If you are registered unemployed, you cannot receive unemployment benefit during your training placement. You may be eligible for other benefits, but this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by your unemployment office.
If you are to remain employed by your current employer while on the Bursary Placement you will need to declare whether you are receiving a salary and your employment status as part of your application. You may wish to take unpaid leave or your employer may wish to financially support you. This may include anything from paying your travel expenses to your salary, travel and subsistence expenses. These factors will not be used as part of the applicant selection process, but will affect the bursary amount that is offered to you and will enable the Scheme to distribute funds fairly.
The Trainee will be responsible for their own tax status and voluntary national insurance contributions. You should contact your local tax office for clarification of your individual circumstances.[Home] [About] [Placements] [Applications] [What's new] [Contact]
