About traditional building skills

Research estimates that 6,500 additional craftspeople are required within the built heritage sector in the next year to meet current demand for work and as demand is set to rise in the next 12 months, skills shortages need to be addressed now.

This bursary scheme will concentrate upon providing funding to develop particular skills to address the needs identified in the NHTG report and the more limited additional research carried out as part of this development phase. This will address areas of greatest shortage and most widespread need across England and Wales and will concentrate upon the following skill sets (click links to view more information):
