Placement Providers
Bursary Placements will be hosted by Placement Providers who are committed to providing a rich learning experience for the Trainee.
Placement Providers may be public or private organisations, companies or sole traders, who have agreed to deliver training and support the Trainees during their Bursary Placement.
As a Trainee you will be assigned a supervisor from your Placement Provider who will be your daily contact during your placement.

Duration of Bursary Placement
The duration of Bursary placements will vary from 1 month to 2 years, depending on the Placement Provider and the specialist trade. Trainees have the opportunity to undertake a bursary over split periods of time, if site work on a specific skill is happening at different and non-sequential times.
Location of Bursary Placement
The training location of the Bursary Placements will vary depending on the Placement Provider and the specialist trade. Some may be workshop based; some site base and some a combination of the two.
Rise to the challenge
In parallel with the working day, you will need to collect evidence, such as photographs, towards a portfolio that illustrates your growing competence to the do the job.
The Placement Providers involved in this bursary scheme expect Trainees to rise to these challenges and take a full and active part in the tasks, situations and opportunities they represent. This will mean some early starts, late finishes, long travel times, eventful days and time pressures... much like the kinds of pressures encountered by employees in the real working environment.
All the supervisors, assessors, trainers and managers involved in this bursary scheme are either potential employers themselves or are connected via the informal network to employing organisations. Trainees will therefore have a direct and real opportunity to have a positive impact on their future employment.
It is feasible that if a Trainee greatly impresses Placement Providers, they may be invited to apply for full employment.
If you have any questions or comments about the bursary scheme, please complete the online enquiry form.
